- At RAB we believe that a quality English curriculum should develop children’s love of reading, writing and discussion so that they can communicate their thoughts and feelings to others confidently and understand others’ ideas and emotions.
- We aim to ensure that children feel empowered to read with fluency, prosody and confidence, whilst developing a secure understanding of what they have read. We want them to see themselves as readers both for pleasure and seeking knowledge, whilst acquiring an extensive vocabulary and the components of language including spelling, punctuation and grammar.
- Speaking, listening and reading are the buildings blocks, which enable high quality writing across all areas of the curriculum.
- We understand the importance of children developing all these skills of language, so they contribute and succeed in the next stage of their life.
