Funding gap

RAB receives the lowest band of government funding in Essex. This puts huge financial pressure on the school’s budgets. With the priority rightly on key curriculum learning, little is left for anything extra. To invest in the future excellence of our school, we need to raise funds independently.

With 650 students sharing school facilities, the existing ageing infrastructure does not do justice to our ambitions – we want to create an enhanced and inspiring learning environment in which every child can be given even greater opportunities to stretch their potential.

Fundraising focus

RA Be Inspired is an ambitious fundraising plan to support investment in three key areas:

  • Sport (new astro pitch)
  • Music and drama (arts centre for lessons and workshops)
  • Reading (new library facility)

PHASE 1
Sport – new astro pitch

The current astro pitch is in urgent need of resurfacing with additional drainage requirements to reduce flooding in wet weather

The astro pitch is used throughout the school day across all year groups for PE lessons, clubs and active play at break times.

Resurfacing the pitch will enrich the current provision, whilst enabling the school to offer it for hire to holiday club providers and local sports groups. This will not only benefit our wider local community but will help to secure additional income for RAB.

Estimate £30k+ (additional funds raised will help with structural and drainage costs)

PHASE 2
Music and drama – new arts centre

Music is an important part of RAB’s extracurricular offering. But we have just one small room for use by visiting music teachers to offer lessons and opportunities for children are limited.

The music room was previously part of a storage shed and has limited natural light and inadequate insulation, which means it’s too cold in winter and too hot in summer.

We’d love to replace the whole unit with a small arts centre suitable for lessons and workshops, music and drama, with enough space for the RAB orchestra to practise. A place for children to explore skills practice, creativity and artistic expression.

Estimate £100k+

PHASE 3
Reading – new library

The current Y6 block is scheduled for redevelopment from Summer 2026, including a functional replacement of the school library.

We want to build a library that can become a truly inspiring space to read and learn.

Whether it’s working with architects to develop a more ambitious design, improving the furniture and creating reading nooks, or ensuring that students have access to an expansive range of reading materials, whatever we can raise will be a worthwhile investment.

Estimate £50k

HOW YOU CAN HELP

The goal is to make our wonderful school an even more inspirational place to learn for our children, now and into the future. We will only succeed in creating these stand-out facilities with the support of our school community.
